Can Light Be Champagne?
Sparkling energy – light and champagne might be more similar than we think. The Opera project materialises this concept in a sublime design.
I love glass, with all its various material qualities. Indeed, light and glass are culturally linked in our perception. Glass can be lively or weighty, eccentric or solid, and there is always something new to discover. German-French manufacturer Massifcentral has specialised in creating a unique material. With the tiny universes of vesicles in the massive blocks of glass, light can be transported in a way that creates a fascinating natural appearance. The result is an archaic energy light conveyed by contemporary technology. The resemblance to champagne, reminding us stories of passion, celebration and luxury, might well contribute to its success.
And so, the ring had to be made.
