The Soul of ZICK ZACK LIGHT
ZICK ZACK is prefabricated in various ways and finally handcrafted in Italy – we think that makes a difference in how it supports your daily creative work.
While we use prefabricated lamps and a simple folded aluminium sheet to create the functions of ZICK ZACK LIGHT, there is one thing that energises the luminaire and makes every piece a little unique: the handcrafted riveting. This is how it is produced: first, one part of the aluminium piece is folded in a zig-zag formation to create the glare protection of the task luminaire. Then it needs to be attached to the outer aluminium lamellas. This is done manually by riveting the two pieces together, a technique with a long history in metal sheet craft, from aeroplanes to industrial machines up to early 1960s Op Art. Going through this handmade process makes the object a ‘piece’ and gives each luminaire a slightly varying light pattern in a dialogue with the space around it. The soul of ZICK ZACK LIGHT energises our work every day, challenging our creativity and setting a standard for the aesthetics of our studio.
